Every year between November 13th - 19th, the week before Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20th, people and organizations around the world participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help increase visibility about the Trans experience, celebrate triumphs and address hardships members of the community face. Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observance that honors the memory of the Trans people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-Transgender violence. Devastatingly, 2021 marks the deadliest year recorded with at least 46 Transgender people killed in the US alone. This week and every week, we need to work together to advance advocacy against the prejudice, discrimination, and violence affecting the Trans community. This is also a time to celebrate Trans joy, resilience, and victories, to pause to honor the history of Trans activism and welcome informed allies. All funds raised will go to the following three incredible organizations, who are making a difference in the everyday lives of Trans community members locally and across the United States through advocacy and empowerment. Through the Global Impact Grant (GIG) Program, Cisco helps emerging non-profit organizations apply digital technology solutions to have the broadest impact in some of the most economically underserved parts of the world. This is a set of strategic partners which Cisco and Cisco Foundation support with cash grants, donations of technology, and capacity building consultations. When you contribute to this fund, you are investing in solutions that have significant positive impact on students in the region. Included in this fund are five current nonprofit partners that focus on K-8 science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs with reach in the APJC region that demonstrate the following: • Evidence based student learning • Reaching students inclusively • Positive changes in student behaviors • Persistence in STEM pathway towards a STEM career Note on Tax Deductibility: This fund includes U.S.- based organizations. Virtual learning is a privilege and we at Make A Difference would want to give this privilege to the disadvantaged children at the shelter homes. By spending almost 2 years at Make A Difference, I have understood the power of the collective. On March 24th, 2021, a terrible fire broke out at one of the densely populated slum communities in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Susan's Bay. The entire community was burnt down to ashes and it is believed that more than 5,000 people were left homeless as over 600 houses were destroyed. Many children are believed to be missing and separated from their parents while thousands have lost their livelihoods as most of the residents in the affected community were involved in petty trading. Advocacy Initiative for Development (AID) Sierra Leone will be providing food, water, medicine, clothing, school supplies, and accommodation in helping the victims especially women and children rise from the ashes. Also, the organization will be providing psychosocial counseling support to affected women and children to enable them recover from the trauma and also keep their hopes alive.

Gauri's sister passed away recently. In lieu of flowers or cards, we created this fund to donate to the National Brain Tumor Society in her honor.

The AAPI Anti-Hate and Discrimination Fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits committed to supporting those who are taking a stand against racism through policy, advocacy, legal work, community-building, and education.

We believe that a healthy ecosystem and thriving biodiversity are essential for every community. We are all a part of this quest and in Tanzania, we have started a reforestation project to contribute to this objective. Desertification is a big issue in the area. It is caused mostly by human activity and lack of alternative practices when it comes to agriculture. Soil erosion worsens every year, and contributes to lower farming outcomes, and an increase in the annual floodings from the nearby river which have destroyed homes and crops. Local schools and leaders of the area have started working on a Tree planting project to mitigate these issues. Their idea is that tree-planting is a sustainable solution to these problems that will contribute to a healthier environment. We want to support them and help accelerate this initiative that will also contribute to our global environmental challenges. The plan: more than 10,000 trees will be grown by students of a local Secondary School and transplanted along the riverbank and throughout the community. The students have set up an environmental club that is coordinating these efforts, supported by their teachers, and have already started working. One tree at a time, the students are reforesting the area! On the side, awareness campaigns in the community will be conducted so that this initiative is appreciated and cared for by everyone who will benefit from it. You can join us!

By helping these organizations in the fight against racism, hate, and xenophobia, we can make real progress in building inclusive communities, raising awareness for Asian minorities, and promoting advancement and growth for people of all backgrounds.

Warrior Canine Connection utilizes a Mission Based Trauma Recovery model to help Warriors recovering from the stress of combat reconnect with their families, communities, and life. By interacting with the dogs as they move from puppyhood to training to adult service dogs, Warrior Trainers benefit from a physiological and psychological animal-human connection. As a result of their efforts, Veterans with disabilities receive the finest in trained service dogs.

33 orphans in Kampala, Uganda have to go back to school, but don't have enough funds to pay their school taxes. By donating to this cause you are giving opportunity to 33 children to explore and study, and this is the first step to their independence. The project is an effective long-term investment as it provides educational opportunities for children and youths. This is helping them to rise above poverty, become independent and better decision-makers. They are then better capable of making a significant contribution to their families, communities, nation, and the world at large. Education reduces poverty. It brings lasting empowerment and definite change.

The recent acts of violence against Pan-Asian communities around the world has put some serious issues into the forefront of our social consciousness. Let's all continue to come together in solidarity and to support one another. Knowing that there are a growing number of allies working for inclusion into Asian communities, we will raise some funds to assist these efforts through some hilarity and funky facial hair.

Over the past few months, there has been an increase in violence against Asian Americans. Just yesterday, eight people, mostly Asian American women were killed in an attack that is being investigated as a hate crime. We condemn the Anti-Asian violence and stand with our Asian colleagues and the Asian-American Community. We're highlighting these organizations to provide immediate support to the Asian Community.

Red Cross knows that emergencies don’t stop and neither do we. Our region serves more than 3.6 million people and has a dedicated team of 1700 volunteers ready to help at a moment’s notice.
